biography
Doug Kocher is a licensed Architect, having practiced in the field for 20 years, and beginning in New Orleans with an intimate experience of craft in the design and fabrication of furniture, continuing this sensibility through a wide range of professional development in San Francisco, and practicing architecture in New York City since 2000. With all design projects, he finds enthusiasm and satisfaction in a high degree of complexity and refined levels of detailing requiring both an elevated design sensibility and a technical grace in determining an inspired resolution.
Doug looks to form a collaboration with each individual involved in the process, from the client and designers through engineers, specialized consultants, fabricators, and construction trades, to synthesize and coordinate the design intent with budgeting, detailing, specifying, and oversight of the construction process for an ultimately successful and timely outcome. He has experience in shepherding an array of building projects through the compliance and review processes of condominium and co-op boards, municipal building departments, and design review commissions to provide a comprehensive and knowledgeable service.
With each successive project, Doug has aligned many of the expert craftspersons and builders with whom he has built relationships over the past decade, and he continues to search out new relationships in design, technology, craft, and construction fields as part of a continuing exploration of creativity and practice.
